Fall 2 follows on from 2022’s original ‘Fall‘ movie, with Jax Hunter (Harriet Slater – Tarot) still grieving for the loss of her sister, Shiloh (Virginia Gardner), following the ridiculous shenanigans of that first outing.
But she still hasn’t learned her lesson, and on finding Shiloh’s “Fuck-it List”, i.e. a scrapbook of other places for the terminally braindead to climb, she sets about wanting to complete it. Oh, come on! I’d still be in therapy after last time!
This one is the Plank Walk on Mount Kwan, out in Thailand, where a dragon statue is reportedly able to “eat your fears.” Sure…
Since it’s a dangerous, a dodgy-looking chap called Jon (Tom Brittney – Back In Action) offers to take them up the Khyber, but is he all he seems? After all, he’s got a beard! And those men aren’t trustworthy!
Along the way, there are some newly-recorded ‘flashback’ scenes, so Ms Gardner still gets a look-in, and amongst earthquakes, dodgy ladders and a damaged path, Jax takes a video camera with her, but spends most of the time NOT filming it all! Duh!
On the downside, Fall 2 does have a bit of cliched nonsense on occasion, such is how the plot is furthered on, but you can’t expect Shakespeare from everything. Still, it does exactly what it says on the tin, and is best seen on the big screen than trying to watch it on a telly.
To that end, I did actually feel like I was going to fall out of my seat at some points, not that it was any different to how it normally is!
I do, however, feel that watching this a second time would not be as powerful, largely because of the viewing environment.
NOTE: There are no mid- nor post-credit scenes, but as it ends, you do get a flavour of where the third film would take us.
Fall 2 is in cinemas now, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. However, once announced, it will appear on the New DVD Blu-ray 3D and 4K releases UK list.
