Jermaine Beckford is a footballer currently with Preston North End, having been on loan from Bolton Wanderers and, since I don’t follow football, then before last week, I wouldn’t know him from Adam.
However, on Monday, I was disgusted to see the footage from a football match on Sunday when he took off his shirt and kindly chucked it over to a group of young boys… not because of anything he did, but because of the woman who wasn’t even in the ‘catching zone’ and, some time after the initial tussle between the lads, with the one in yellow winning, she waded in and snatched it off them!
She then attempted to sell it later that day on Gumtree for £1500, but it was reported and taken offline. Whether she’s sold it since, who knows.
Kudos to Jermaine Beckford for chucking the shirt over to the lads, but the woman who took it was an absolute disgrace. And I hope someone also has a word with the female bouncer who wades in towards the end and seems to think it’s okay that the woman takes it!
Thankfully, the footballer has put things right what had earlier gone wrong, and arranged a press conference so that he could deliver a new Playoff Final shirt to the young boy who missed out, as well as some other goodies.
