Kandagawa Jet Girls is a jet-ski racing game with big-breasted, young Japanese girls because, y’know, Japanese culture.
There is a story – in which the girls talk about how dedicated they are in their passion to jet racing, but it’s one that can be safely ignored, as it’s just a jet ski racing game with women in skimpy clothes.
However, if you want to indulge in the diagloue, you can, as it’s line after line after line, and I just wanted to skip the story – as it was just tedious with endless chat (same as 2017’s Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni) – and just get to the races, in order to keep up the pace that I’d expect from the game… and you can skip these cutscenes, thankfully! In my Race 1 video (see playlist below), I have included all the chat, but for the other races, I’ve taken them out.
There’s a tutorial to show you how to get to grips with racing – although it does over-complicate things with so many different weapons etc. You can customise your characters and their machines, earning outfits, extra characters etc, as you go.
As a game, it looks great, but it does feel a bit dull as you don’t get that big feeling of speed that you would expect. It’s also way too easy, so even if you do fall behind in a race, it takes almost no time at all to get back to the front of the pack.
Overall, Kandagawa Jet Girls is the kind of game which has undemanding gameplay that’d be more suited to young children… if it wasn’t for the comparatively adult content… and I did think this would be a fairly budget title, but it’s full price!
