Kid/Nap – Inside No.9 Series 7 Episode 4 – The DVDfever Review

Kid/Nap

Kid/Nap is the fourth episode of Inside No.9 Series 7.

It opens with Lara (Daisy Haggard) and Shane (Daniel Mays) living separate lives, with hers appearing considerably better off than his, but the opening scene of them waking up and getting ready to go out for the day is done brilliantly in split-screen.

Now, I’ll keep this spoiler-free, only mentioning the premise of the episode, and before too long, Lara is abducted by Shane, and taken to a house with the number… yep, you guessed it.

When she comes round, she has a glass of water, but how is this going to play out? Lara is the wife of rich hedge fund manager Dominic (Reece Shearsmith), while together, Shane and Clifford (Jason Isaacs) have to plan that things are going to GO to plan, and score some loot in the process, but the details will be revealed in the course of the episode with some comical results.

Between the pair, Shane comes across as a bit thick, while Clifford seems a little bit more together, but as the iPlayer image (above) shows for the episode, the police are involved, so how will DI Ellis (Steve Pemberton) and husband Dominic handle things?

There’s lots to discover – and I’m avoiding all spoilers – but safe to say that this is the best episode of the series so far, and that the much-used technique of the split-screen is brilliant.

Kid/Nap is broadcast on BBC2 at 10pm on Wednedsay May 18th.
