Last Seen is so-called because it’s been 11 years since former cop – and now manager in a police dispatcher call centre – Ian Ridley (Patrick Brammall – Colin From Accounts) last saw his daughter, Maggie, aged three.
His ex-wife, Debbie McGuire (Jessica Wren), is having a baby with a new man, and wants all the attire that was last used by their girl, while Ian’s having it away with one of his staff, Polly (Taylor Ferguson – Fake).
But life ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, and some human remains found, which sets Ian’s mind racing that it could be Maggie, but forensics have to get involved, first. And if she is dead, is a local dog breeder the guilty party, or is Ian just barking up the wrong tree?
At times, Last Seen is a pretty engaging drama, even if the subject matter is grim, but there are times when it follows old drama tropes. I don’t want to give spoilers, but it’s enough to make it feel lazy at times, such as how there’s no way would you be taking calls from people in the area where you work. Still, it’s TV and as such, he can’t help but pop by to make sure one troubled female caller is safe. That would be WAY out of line in your job. You are NOT Spider-Man.
But there’s also an oddity where Ian sits down to eat a steak and salad dinner, but with no ketchup or condiments. Huh?!
Last Seen is on Apple TV from today, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. If it is in future, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
