Let the Right One In (2022) – The DVDfever Review – Demián Bichir – Paramount+

Let the Right One In 2022 Let the Right One In (2022) is the TV series version of the original movie and novel, starting with the rather ill Arthur Logan (Zeljko Ivanek) observing a young man watching a sunrise, but because the latter is a vampire, it doesn’t work out too well for him.

Meanwhile, Mark Kane (Demián BichirChaos Walking) appears to have suffered loss, is sat on a train, but he can hear scratching behind his train seat… so what’s that all about? Plus, you can tell this is a work of fiction, because this train is actually clean! It’s never like this on the Northern service to Manchester Piccadilly(!)

He’s moving into a new flat, but appears to have a secret in his trunk. It’s not a stash of Pot Noodles, but in fact, his daughter, Ellie (Madison Taylor Baez). She’s not like other kids. She’s 12, and a vampire, is very adept at climbing trees quickly, and he needs to bring her back to feeling herself… a drop of blood should fix that, and there’s only one way to get it for yourself, which makes for an amusing exchange when he goes to work as a chef in a kitchen, and is asked if he’s good with knives…

Mark’s forever looking for a cure, and the restaurant he’s now working at is partly owned by his friend, who’s annoyed Mark’s still pursuing this.

The young girl playing Ellie is a very good actress, clearly exhibiting how miffed she is at her Dad’s attempts at his half-asssed underparenting. However, he tries to make up for it when they go to check out a science exhibit, in which she climbs very high indeed, leaping about tall structures like Spider-Man. However, the things he has to do to get the blood! Ewwww!

Elsewhere in the first episode are tons of rats in the sewer, plus an alcoholic father wanting to get back into his son’s life, and Arthur trying to get back into his daughter, Claire’s, life, his son and her brother, Peter, has since passed away. It’s a very tough time for them, and about to get even tougher.

I’ve only seen the first episode, and I’m doing my best to avoid spoilers, but I’ll definitely check out more as the series goes on. I expect it’ll be weekly.

Thanks to our friends at Paramount+ for the screener prior to release.

Let the Right One In (2022) is not available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but is on Paramount+ from today, showing weekly.
