Maleficent tells the tale of Sleeping Beauty, told from the perspective of the titular villain, played by Angelina Jolie, looking at the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse young Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning).
Out now are two new featurettes, both of which include previously unseen footage, firstly ‘True Maleficent Dark‘, which begins to unravel the truth behind the original Sleeping Beauty fairytale, teasing at what made a good fairy, Maleficent, go bad!
And then there’s the ‘This is Maleficent‘ featurette, which takes a more in-depth look at the enigmatic character of Maleficent.
Also out are three new posters – new character banners for Maleficent and Princess Aurora, and also the Maleficent IMAX poster.
Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora.
As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realises that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
Also starring Juno Temple, Sharlto Copley, Brenton Thwaites, Peter Capaldi, Miranda Richardson, Imelda Staunton, Sam Riley and Lesley Manville,Maleficent is released on May 28th in the UK, the same day as the US.
