game picResident Evil is a survivor horror game. You play as 2 characters from a elite group known as S.T.A.R.S., Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. You must fight your way through many odd areas to complete the game. All through an eerie mansion plagued with many zombies and mutants to a Laboratory filled with many puzzles and devious creatures. The plot later reveals a corporation responsible for these undead mutants, UMBRELLA Corp. Its old version for the Playstation was a big hit and started a whole new series of Survivor Horror/Suspense games. When Resident Evil for Playstation came out it marveled in graphics and SFX. Although it wasnt done yet. After that Capcom decided to let people see what Resident Evil was supposed to be – the release was called Resident Evil: Directors Cut. That is a whole other story though.

Now as Capcom returns to signs a contract with Nintendo, their first release was a new, revamped Resident Evil. They were going to make it a direct port from the PS/Saturn version, until they decided to use the Gamecube’s marvellous abilities to make a new and better RE. They also remade it because of the many loop holes Wesker’s Report put into the original storyline. Resident Evil finally came out and people were very suprised to see all the ALL NEW weapons, areas, bosses, and plots.

The features of this game could possibly be the best looking in games today. The graphics are so sharp and smooth. Little-to-no pixel errors. It truly gives you a scared feeling as you see the zombies and well-designed rooms. They did well for the little room they had to make it look good becuase they had to also at the same time make it a very dark setting.

One specific thing came to mind as i played this game while looking at the graphics was the end. I remember at the end of the game as the Tyrant breaks free from its test tube container, the game actually pauses because of the Graphics and SFX tryin so hard, and no it is not because my game is scratched. It did it on every copy. Now the sound has improved A LOT since the old Resident Evil. There arent any more glitches and pauses in the music and explosions. The sound of the guns and moans of the zombies are so life like. The music is so clear and sharp. They did a good job of matching the music with its environment to give it an extra sense of suspense and frightening feel to it.

The playability on the other hand is a bit better. You still have to get the hang of the controls if you’re a first time RE player. They have also added a ‘Quick Turn’ feauture makin it easy to turn around and run from enemies. It has also improved on the control of pushing boxes and other assorted items. I was easiliy able to glide through the game with these controls.

This game is an an overall “Go get a GameCube (If you dont have one already) and buy this game NOW!”
