Namco Museum Mini Player is bringing you 10″ of Arcade fun for Christmas, and it’s shaping up to be the one thing I’ve been looking for in official arcade fun in the home for some time.
It comes from My Arcade, and yes, we’ve had a number of units released lately, include the Burger Time and Karate Champ units, which stood just a few inches tall, but suffered from one important drawback: They weren’t the original arcade games, but instead, the ports for the NES, aka Nintendo Entertainment System. They were also around £25 each, so a lot of people might have to select just one or two and not be able to check out the other games.
The Namco Museum Mini Player fixes all that with a new unit which contains a mammoth 20 games and is taller as it stands at 10″ in size, although some men might exaggerate that figure.
My Arcade state: “The ultimate in retro-done-right, gamers will be taken back in time with authentic arcade ROMs playable on a scaled-down 4.25” full colour screen, sat inside a 10” miniature arcade cabinet adorned with artwork from the timeless arcade marquees. Complete with a glowing coin trap and dual forward facing speakers, the unit features genuine arcade controls and a 3.5mm headphone jack for those who prefer more isolated audio.
For seasoned collectors and arcade fans alike, the unit is a must-have. Classic gameplay combines with travel-sized arcade mechanics including a removable joystick, for those who prefer to play with a D-pad.”
Amir Navid, SVP Product Development and Creative Director at My Arcade: “The mission of My Arcade is to bring the very best retro classics back to life for a new generation of gamers to enjoy as well as seasoned veterans with a love for the legends. We’re delighted to bring the Namco Museum Mini Player to Europe. Everyone will have a favourite among the 20 titles featured, and we believe that gamers everywhere will embrace the opportunity to play these amazing titles with authentic controls and all in one place.”
Namco Museum Mini Player is available from on September 20th and you can buy it from Amazon here, and we can’t wait to check it out!
