No Good Deed sees Lydia (Lisa Kudrow – Time Bandits 2024) and Paul Morgan (Ray Romano – Fly Me To The Moon) as an older couple, having to sell their dream house of a 1920s Spanish-style villa due to money issues, the former – especially – missing the days when her kids were growing up in the home.
However, Denis Leary (The Amazing Spider-Man 2 IMAX 3D), as Mikey, has some extreme demands to make of Paul, demanding a load of cash “otherwise tomorrow, I’ll tell the cops everything” – So, what happened?
Meanwhile, neighbour and former Rising Tides soap star JD Campbell (Luke Wilson – Zombieland: Double Tap) is married to Margo (Linda Cardellini – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3), who’s having a lesbian affair, in a slice-of-life drama which isn’t just about wondering who’ll be buying their abode, but amongst the dark drama, it does have some lighter moments, such as when two potential buyers – Leslie (Abbi Jacobson – Disenchantment) and Sarah (Poppy Liu – Space Cadet) – return while Lydia’s crashed out upstairs, resulting in the following exchange after they’ve left:
House seller Greg: “There’s a reason why buyers and sellers don’t meet.”
Lisa: “…are you going to tell me? Or…”
Greg: “No, I just want you to go.”
No Good Deed has other secrets to be revealed along the way, which I won’t spoil here, but I’ve watched the first two episodes so far, and it’s pretty engaging so I think I will check out more of this.
Also, in a rare change, it’s a Netflix series shot in 16:9, and not 2.00:1!
Thanks to our friends at Netflix for the screener prior to release.
No Good Deed is not available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but is on Netflix from today.
