My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of ONE OF THEM DAYS!

One Of Them Days One Of Them Days is one of those indie comedies that works a bit better than it deserves to, since there’s precious little in the way of a plot, and what is there ends up ridiculously contrived at times.

Dreux (Keke PalmerNope) – pronounced ‘Drew’ works in a crappy roadside diner, like the Little Chef I once had the misfortune to work at, even though she’s applied for a better job and has an interview later in the day.

In what looks like the neighbourhood from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, she and flatmate Alyssa (SZA, yes, she hasn’t got a proper name) are facing eviction because the rent hasn’t been paid. It’s 9am now, and they have until 6pm to get $1500 of overdue rent to the landlord, with a series of unlikely scenarios where everything goes from bad to worse for them, including trying to raise cash by applying for a loan, donating blood and retrieving expensive trainers from a very high up electricity wire, that have just been dumped there.

Talking of unlikely situations, despite this being a predominantly black neighbourhood, a white woman moves in to the area, Bethany (Maude Apatow), with a dog called Shooter, who sports a pink neck tie.

Both the two leads also have romantic interlude, with Alyssa coming up to her 6th Month Anniversary of Keshawn (Joshua David Neal) cadging his way in to their flat and leeching off them, while Dreux encounters the delightfully-named Maniac (Patrick Cage).

One Of Them Days will pass one of them 90-minute periods in your life without too much complaint, but it does feel that it plays out like an overlong San Andreas mission.

NOTE: There are no mid- or post-credit scenes.

One Of Them Days is in cinemas now, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. However, once announced, it will appear on the New DVD Blu-ray 3D and 4K releases UK list.
