My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of PATIENCE SERIES 2 on CHANNEL 4!

Patience Series 2 Patience Series 2 should probably have begun at Halloween, given that a male dead body has been found with a stake through the heart and two bite marks in his neck. However, as it stands, this second series coming just a year after the first AND has been increased from a 6-episode run to 8.

Meanwhile, there’s almost another one to follow, as Patience (Ella Maisy Purvis), herself, is walking about with her headphones on, despite the everyday dangers of traffic on the roads, including a biker who’s actually her new boss, DI Frankie Monroe (Jessica HynesDeath Of A Unicorn).

Our lead is still as awkward as ever, and since Patience can’t handle change, she doesn’t understand the Metcalfe’s changed to move to a job in Glasgow, instead. Would someone really do that, in reality? You wouldn’t up-sticks to go elsewhere, so I wonder why Laura Fraser moved on from this, unless the powers that be got rid?

This series is based on the French drama, Astrid and Raphaelle – shown in the UK as Astrid: Murder In Paris – although maybe if this series goes across the water, perhaps the first series will be called Patience & Bea, and now, Patience & Frankie?

As we’ve seen from the trailer, Fankie isn’t so keen on Patience, and when told by the regular cops that she’s helped crack so many cases, Frankie quips that “If you two were doing your job properly, she wouldn’t have to.”

As such, she doesn’t want Patience involved any more with their cases, although I figure if that was to both be AND remain the case, it would be a very short series. Plus, Frankie also confirms in the trailer, “She’s very annoying, but she does have a knack about being right”, so you know the pair will rub along together before too long.

That said, it wouldn’t happen in reality, since Patience walking around a crime scene on her own isn’t exactly a wise idea, and even if she does have gloves on, she’ll add footprints to the scene, as well as the door she opened to get in, before putting her second glove on. Oh, and surely if a crime scene is cordoned off, police will be on guard by it?

So, this IS good, but the opener has one key scene which revolves around Patience being in the right place at the right time, just by chance. However, given that she’s been taken off police work, she shouldn’t be anywhere but in the records room. So, where does her regular supervisor think she is?

However, one point which I’ll still put behind a spoiler header, even though I’m posting this after it airs, since some watch on catch-up…
