Outnumbered, the multi-award-winning comedy series from Hat Trick Productions which captures the turbulent chaos of family life in a way not seen before, at all its most deliciously chaotic, is back in production for BBC One with a new six-part series and a Christmas special.

Two parents and their three children are locked in an unequal battle. Using elements of improvisation, Outnumbered sees the world as much from the children’s as the adults’ point of view.

In the new series, the family is confronted by an array of issues ranging from death, drugs, terrorism and getting old, to food science, Top Gear, and the joy of ventriloquism.

Written by the creators of Drop The Dead Donkey, Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, Outnumbered stars Hugh Dennis (Mock The Week, Hugh And Oz Raise The Bar, The Now Show), Claire Skinner (Trinity, Sense And Sensibility, Life Begins), Samantha Bond (Die Another Day, Downton Abbey), David Ryall (Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows, The League Of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse), Tyger Drew-Honey (The Armstrong & Miller Show), Daniel Roche (Just William) and Ramona Marquez (The King’s Speech).

Outnumbered is written, directed and produced by Andy Hamilton (It’s Only A Theory, Trevor’s World of Sport, Bedtime) and Guy Jenkin (Bike Squad, Crossing The Floor). The executive producers are Jimmy Mulville for Hat Trick and Simon Wilson for the BBC.

For my money, this series has gone from strength to strength. It’s just a shame that every new series takes around 18 months to come to our screens. However, that used to be the same fate for Peep Show when it was a bit better than it has been since it started trotting out a new one annually. What do you reckon?
