THE RING is the film that will make you think twice about any unmarked videotapesin your collection! Available to own on DVD and Video from 1st September, thecritically acclaimed psychological thriller that kept cinema audiences on theedge of their seats is being released by DreamWorks Home Entertainment.

A re-make of the international box office hit RINGU, THE RING begins as justanother urban legend – the whispered tale of a nightmarish videotape thatcauses anyone who watches it to die seven days later. But when four teenagersall meet with mysterious deaths exactly seven days after watching just such atape, investigative reporter Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) tracks down the video.

At first, all the information coming at her about the videotape seems ridiculouslyimplausible, nothing more than teenage gossip. But then she finds it andwatches it! The dark, mysterious images of ladders, horses, lighthouses,mirrors and landscapes all implying an answer to the unknown. And then, thephone rings, “Seven days!” is all that’s heard. Rachel gets more and morescared as coincidences begin to happen that really start to tap into her ownpsychological beliefs and self-doubt, questioning the truth of the tale. Butnow, the legend is coming true, the clock is ticking and Rachel has just sevendays to save herself and her son, and unravel the mystery of THE RING.

Both the Video and DVD format will feature an all-new 15-minute experimentalshort film created by director Gore Verbinski (The Mexican and upcomingPirates of the Caribbean), exclusively for the release. The short filmreveals more electrifying secrets that bring viewers closer to understandingthe real mystery of THE RING. Those brave enough to view this all-new film onthe DVD need only click “Don’t Watch This”. As the exclusive-to-video filmopens on your screen, static takes over the television set, followed by theindelible jagged circular white glow of THE RING. Then, viewers will be takeninto the character’s thoughts and lives leading up to the seven-day mark -leaving them in a conflicted state of knowing more, but perhaps understandingless – The DVD will also feature specially designed animated menus thatutilise elements from the deadly tape to navigate viewers through the programs.

In addition to Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive), THE RING also stars MartinHenderson (Windtalkers) as Noah, Rachel’s friend who’s enlisted to savethe life of herself and her son Aidan (David Dorfman). Legendary actorBrian Cox (X-Men 2, Adaptation) also features alongside up-and-comingchild star Daveigh Chase (Samara). Together, they have just seven daysto unravel the mystery of THE RING.
