Revival 2014, from Revival Retro Events, is the retro gaming event I’m very much looking forward to and it’ll be held again at Wolverhampton Racecourse, and is happening on August 9th and 10th this year.
It’s their flagship event, taking Wolverhampton back to the 1970s, 80s and 90s and reliving the atmosphere of the seaside arcades and the explosion of home computing and console gaming. Retro gaming events on this scale don’t happen often and certainly there is nothing like it in the Midlands.
Following their successful first event in May 2013, Revival returns to Wolverhampton at Dunstall Race Course with hundreds of arcade machines, home computers and consoles for the public to come and experience; exhibitions by the Retro Computer Museum (Reg Charity No: 1146912) and the Centre for Computing History (Reg Charity No: 1130071) plus traders selling associated products and merchandise – all for a single entrance fee.
Chris Wilkins, one of the organisers of Revival, said, “Last years event was an amazing success. We have taken feedback from those who attended and our aim is now to make this year’s event even better. Watch out for some amazing announcements”
The event will see well-known names such as Sega, Nintendo, Commodore, Sinclair, Acorn and Atari represented, along with talks and Q&A sessions with industry figures that helped shape the modern gaming market – staff from the likes of OCEAN and U.S. GOLD along with innovative magazine creators in the shape of the NewsField team who created Crash, Zzap! 64 and Amtix.
Last year’s event was given rave reviews on social media and blogging sites, including my own summary here, and an event video, below, was created and as a result shows exactly what visitors can expect to experience at this year’s event.
