T2, aka Trainspotting 2, is the film title for Danny Boyle’s sequel to the 1996 classic Trainspotting, based on the novel by Irvine Welsh. The sequel is actually called Porno, but presumably that’s not a word that your local multiplex can have beaming out from their electronic display boards…
And T2 also harkens back, brilliantly, to 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day, another classic from that decade… if rather different in content.
And now there’s the official Red Band Trailer, so Choose a trailer with plenty of swearing and drugs…
I’m not one for books, so I’ll wait for the film to find out about the plot (and will it follow the plot of the book, precisely, anyway?), but what is known is that the original cast returns: Ewan McGregor as Renton, Robert Carlyle as Francis Begbie, Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy, and Ewen Bremner as Spud.
Lust For Life? I certainly have a lust for this sequel!
T2: Trainspotting 2 is released in the UK on January 27th 2017, and with that placing in the annual calendar, and Boyle’s stature, it no doubt is in competition at the Oscars and BAFTAs next year.
