The Last Anniversary is another long-drawn-out Aussie import, filling out the bare cupboard that is the weekend evening schedule on terrestrial TV. ITV currently also has the same thing happening with Fake.
For the family featured in this, Grandma Connie’s (Angela Punch McGregor) passed away, Grace (Claude Scott-Mitchell) is 34 weeks pregnant, with potential problems that could cause a miscarriage, while Sophie’s (Teresa Palmer – Berlin Syndrome, The Fall Guy) on a date, trying to find the right man to get pregnant with, as she’s 39.
Still, the latter might have something to celebrate, as she’s been left Connie’s house in her will, and moves in, but it’s on an island where there’s many secrets. Oooooh!!
Meanwhile, it’s standard soap opera territory, as her relatives want to challenge the will, and the only secret I can see is that they’re hiding the way to stay awake while watching this utter dross.
The Last Anniversary begins tonight on BBC1 at 9pm, and is already available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
You can buy the novel in paperback form and on Kindle.
It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
