My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of THE RIDGE on BBC2!

The Ridge The Ridge is a thriller with the initial mystery that when we see lots of unnecessary shakycam/zooming in-and-out as we’re introduced to anaesthetist Mia (Lauren LyleThe Outrun) – the picture still unable to keep still as if the cameraman is stood on a fault line = but that’s one thing that’s not going to get resolved any time soon.

And not least because there’s murder afoot… maybe… but that’s what our heroine needs to figure out.

Her sister, Cassy (Connor Amor-Bendall), is getting married in New Zealand, but after getting a strange phone call just as she’s getting on her flight, upon arrival, the search is on.

Cassy is eventually found, but sadly, she’s dead, despite being a good climber. This is already part of the premise, since her goal is about what Mia will do about it, given that she thinks Cassy was pushed and murdered, and as she chats to various people in the neighbourhood – including Cassy’s fiancĂ©e, she struggles to find anyone who’s not a barking nutjob!

Trying to work out which is the truth sounds like the plot of the recent Untamed, but beyond that, it’s a totally different situation.

On the way, we learn how Mia and Cassy had a horrifying childhood from a domineering mother – and at times, Mia does seem a bit unhinged, but overall, The Ridge is a very slow burner as she talks to everyone and tries to put the clues together, and I’m not wholly into it.

The Ridge begins tomorrow night on BBC2 Scotland at 9pm, also shown on BBC2 elsewhere on Thursday at 9pm, and I expect every episode will be online from day one, on BBC iPlayer.

It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
