The Tower Series 2 follows on two months on from the events of the first series, a three-parter, with cop Lizzie Adama (Tahirah Sharif – A Town Called Malice) now back in the job after some time off, which I won’t spoil here if you haven’t seen it already.
DS Sarah Collins (Gemma Whelan – DI Ray) is now working in Homicide, and with an arsehole of a boss who moans that she should’ve been with them from the week before, despite her – until then – current hierarchy telling her to start now, and the laziest bunch of underlings in the world.
Subtitled “Death Message”, this follow-up is a four-parter, and has two cases going on at the same time. First up, and for Sarah – with the help of retired cop Paul Stokes (Alexis Platt – Paranoid), who was on the case at the time – is the case of a girl called Tanya, who went missing in 1997, on the day of Princess Diana’s funeral, simply while walking over to her friend Catherine’s house, and getting changed along the way for reasons unknown, and how it relates to local man Robert McCarthy (Benjamin Beresford), from back then, who has some obvious mental issues going on.
Elsewhere, Lizzie’s latest case sees her dealing with local scally Mark Brannon (Charley Palmer Rothwell – Beast), who’s been accused of domestic abuse on his girlfriend, Georgina (Rosa Coduri – Funny Woman), and their daughter, Skye.
Adding in Niamh Cusack (The Virtues) as Tanya’s mother, Claire, and while only the first episode was available for preview, I hadn’t even realised this series has already been shown on Britbox. Often, information about Britbox content rarely shows up on regular telly.
Either way, so far, this is okay and I’ll stick with it and see where it goes.
