The Young Messiah tells the made-up story (and it is a story) about Jesus at age 7, played by Adam Greaves-Neal. So, it’s a bit like Michael Apted’s ITV series “7 up”, probably.
He and his family leave Egypt and go back home to Nazareth. They had fled to avoid a massacre of children by King Herod of Israel (Jonathan Bailey – W1A, Broadchurch). Jesus knows that his parents Joseph and Mary have secrets they are keeping from him, secrets about his birth and about traits that make him very different from other boys. His parents, however, believe him too young to grasp the truth of his miraculous birth and purpose. Learning that the murderous Herod is dead, they set out to return to their home of Nazareth in Israel, unaware that Herod’s namesake son is, like his father, determined to see the boy Jesus dead.
The film also stars Sean Bean (The Martian, Game Of Thrones) as Severus, David Bradley (An Adventure In Space and Time), Isabelle Adriani, Christian McKay and Lee Boardman (Coronation Street, The Interceptor).
The Young Messiah is out just in time for Easter when it’s released in the UK on March 11th 2016.
