Climbing to No.1, from No.2 in the UK Top 100 Music Chart, is Lily Allen‘s drippy Keane cover of Somewhere Only We Know at No.2, that’s also being used in the John Lewis advert.
As such, Martin Garrix drops to No.6 with Animals. This has got to be the most bland ‘dance’ track I have ever heard. Why the hell is this No.1?! Is this what passes for entertainment these days? The rest of the top 10 is made up with Bastille, who take two fast-paced dance tracks – Snap‘s Rhythm is a Dancer and Corona‘s Rhythm of the Night – and mix them into a slow, drudge and dull piece of tedium mixed with a video that looks like an American homicide drama. why? Fuck knows. Thn there’s tax-dodger Gary Barlow at No.3 and another Lily Allen track at 9, Hard Out Here. JLS prove no-one cares about their split as their single goes in at No.19 (same with their final album at No.6), while Boyzone proves that even less people care about their 20th Anniversary as their new single stalls at No.39.
