Venom – Tom Hardy film confirmed 15-certificate by the BBFC

Venom Venom is released next Wednesday, with Tom Hardy in the lead role as Eddie Brock, and today, the BBFC have confirmed it has received a 15-certificate. There was speculation it may get a possibly-censored 12-cert, since it has a PG-13 in the US, so there may be pressure to get it down to a 12 in the UK.

July 31st:

Venom is still coming, with Tom Hardy in the lead role as Eddie Brock, and here’s the second full trailer for it.

The trailer is partially similar to the last one, but adds more stuff in as it goes on, and the film is due out on October 5th.

April 24th:

Venom extends the Marvel Cinematic Universe further with Tom Hardy in the lead role as Eddie Brock.

Now there’s a full trailer, following February’s teaser, and it’s all looking like the rest, but more violent, and Brock just comes across as a Lenny from Of Mice And Men, but mixing schizophrenia into his mental illness.

The plot of the film is unknown, but the only thing about it which is, is the UK release date of October 5th, which is a Friday, so could even move forward by a day or two or three, like most of the rest.

Director: Ruben Fleischer
Also stars: Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Tom Holland, Riz Ahmed, Reid Scott, Michelle Lee

Venom extends the Marvel Cinematic Universe further with Tom Hardy in the lead role as Eddie Brock.

I didn’t know much about the original character, but I understand he’s a journalist who exposed the wrong man as a serial killer, the real one having been caught by Spider-Man. This leads him to meeting up with an alien called Symbiote, rejected by Peter Parker, and the Symbiote bonds with him, and thus, together forever, they become Venom.

Sadly, this means we’ll get more of Tom Holland as Spider-Man, presuming they go with that storyline. And since they were planning on an R-rated movie (usually a 15-cert in the UK), I’d be surprised if that’s still happening, given that kids will want to see Spidey.
