Voyage on Nintendo Switch – The DVDfever Review / Full Gameplay Walkthrough

Voyage Voyage comes to Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox consoles this Friday, after getting a Steam release last year.

I’m completely new to this , but on first impressions, the hand-drawn style reminds me very much of recent titles like Out of Line, Before Your Eyes and Forgotten Fields.

The vague billing for this game just states “To find their way home, two survivors journey to unravel the mysteries of the past.”

On checking out the trailer, the pair are of indeterminate gender, but I leaned more towards one of them than that other, as you can see from my gameplay.

To get from A to B will often involve pushing items or pulling items, and once I’d figured out how to move things, everything started to fall into place. It’s a journey where I’m not exactly she whate’s going on, but it’s absolutely gorgeous and the music makes you feel incredibly emotional at times, especially when it played as I accidentally got the characters to hug each other!

Voyage also has shades of both Ico and Another World. Some elements of the graphics from both are in this, and when it comes to Ico, it chimed with the fact that the characters don’t say very much at all.

Just one big problem, albeit one I sort-of figured out eventually. There are 8 chapters within the brief running time of approximately two hours, but it doesn’t tell you when one chapter ends and the next begins. All you really know, is that you’re running through a land and suddenly get picked up by a swirly mist, and transported back to a similar location where you began, and have to put together the net portal in order to go on the next adventure.

Overall, check out my full gameplay below, and then you’ll get the best understanding of how this game works.

(NOTE: Gameplay videos are going up daily in stages from Tuesday August 9th)
