My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS (or NEIGHBORS!)

Your Friends And Neighbours Your Friends And Neighbours opens with a surprisingly shocking situation for workaholic Andrew Cooper (Jon HammLandman), and since it’s right at the start I’ll give you the flavour, that he wakes up next to a dead body, trying to clean up all the oodles of blood around, before dashing out of what is not his own house…

And it’s one of those shows where we then go back to ‘how this all began’, as he meets a woman in a bar from work, Liv Cross (Kitty HawthorneDead Ringers 2023), who’s half his age. Well, she’s 28, he states he’s 48, and talks about how he’ll be in 10 years time… even though Hamm is actually 54 in real life.

Events go back even further, as he gives a summary of his life to date, and it’s amusing when it briefly shows him on his first day at work, having been digitally-de-aged. He has two kids, but is now divorced from his wife, Mel (Amanda PeetFatal Attraction 2023), so he’s like a rich version of ’80s sitcom Dear John.

But thanks to his latest dalliance, he’s also been fired by nasty boss Jack Bailey (Corbin Bernsen), and in attempting to get a new job, office politics stop him bringing his client list to the new places.

However, then it throws in his sister, Ali (Lena HallSnowpiercer 2020), who’s obviously got some sort of mental health issues going on (thus ticking that box), it then becomes rather like a dull soap opera, and just rich people’s problems, and all feeling rather pointless, unless you like just watching a programme that’s simply Jon Hamm walking about all day.

I know a lot of women and gay men will enjoy that, so fill your boots.

Your Friends And Neighbours is on Apple TV+ from tomorrow, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. Initially, two episodes are available, and additional episodes will stream weekly.
