The Last Thing He Told Me – The DVDfever Review – Apple TV+ – Jennifer Garner

The Last Thing He Told Me The Last Thing He Told Me sees Hannah Michaels (Jennifer GarnerThe Adam Project) looking at her phone on the day of this programme’s actual broadcast, Friday April 14th, which just happens to be my birthday, but that’s not essential to the plot.

In a fit of frustration, she smashes her phone, which makes it a bit difficult to contact her 16-year-old stepdaughter, Bailey (Angourie RiceSpider-Man No Way Home More Fun Stuff Edition 4DX), who’s gone missing, but we then flashback to four days earlier, where life is initially easier, but then, her husband, Owen (Nikolaj Coster-WaldauHeadhunters), suddenly can’t be found around the time when Hannah receives a strange call from a man asking for him.

But for what follows, as Toyah sang in the ’80s, it’s a mystery. Something is clearly amiss with his business, Clear Slate, for which he’s one of their coders, mysterious notes are being left by Owen – it appears – even though it’s impossible to do this in at least one case, other bizarre events start happening, and key people he knew are being arrested, and the police don’t play nice: They have that ‘drama series stern cop face’ on at all times.

Plus, Hannah and Bailey are constantly at loggerheads as a result… or maybe, because she’s just a stroppy teenager.

So, given the business shenanigans, The Last Thing He Told Me is a a typical case of suddenly not knowing the man you’ve known for years, and nothing its as it seems. Plus, for everyone she speaks to, they all talk in riddles and make things seem even more confusing.

By the end of two episodes, I was wishing that the person who’d gone missing was me! Away from the TV!

However, her houseboat is lush…

The Last Thing He Told Me is on Apple TV+ from Friday April 14th, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. Two episodes are available at launch, then the others are added weekly.
