Facebook Page reviews – easily open to abuse

Facebook Page reviews Facebook Page reviews are something that might sound like a good idea.

I’ve had to switch off the Reviews section for this Page, following the actions of a troll called Alex Watkins (right), from Youtube channel Edge Of Your Seat, who was on my friends list, but until whenever he disagreed with anything, he started telling me to f-off. Then he messaged me, calling me a “nasty c***”” and I blocked him. Had that been all that happened, I would’ve left it there and you wouldn’t be reading this.

Then two days later, on Friday, he gave my DVDfever Facebook Page a 1-star review. Had that been in any way far, again, I would’ve left it there and you wouldn’t be reading this, but his ‘review’ wasn’t about my site, it was just another outlet to give me a load of abuse. I’ve tried to report that but, as is typical of Facebook, they won’t do anything about that.

Then he began an orchestrated campaign to get a ton of people to 1-star the page. The more I tried to ban the people leaving the ‘reviews’, the more ‘reviews’ came in, and Facebook are so useless that you can neither remove them or speak to a human at Facebook to explain the situation so they can step in.

Zuck sucks!

It’s PATHETIC that I can’t report the ones without comments, and PATHETIC that I can’t remove them myself. I can remove abusive comments on my Page, but not abusive reviews. How does that work?!

I managed to stop most of them showing up, but out of the eight, while only two now show up, ALL 8 still count towards the score!!!! WTF?!

Another page, for Long’s Jewellers, had the same problem as they had a troll organising ONE HUNDRED 1-star reviews at once. You can read their experience here.

Until this can be sorted, I’ve had to turn reviews off. Even Facebook advertising is also PATHETIC and useless, as while I had some decent returns from advertising by paying them a few quid first time round, I got zero returns when I tried it 2 or 3 times more, and I keep being bombarded enough with junk.

Another way Facebook’s reviews is pathetic is also when it comes to people who post without engaging brain. Take a look at the reviews for the Facebook page “I Love Manchester”. There is a website which goes by the same name, and this Page is about that site… BUT a lot of people have rated it 5/5, NOT because they are reviewing I Love Manchester, but because they are reviewing the city of Manchester. It’s like voting 5/5 to the Odeon’s Facebook page because you enjoyed Deadpool 2.

As Forrest Gump would say, “Stupid is as stupid does”.
