The Will Ferrell-starring Anchorman comedy setup is a San Diego television channel fictionally known as the KVWN channel 4. Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), works with a team of close friends whom he has known since childhood. His buddy Brian Fantana is the lead field reporter; Brick Tamland is the lead meteorologist, whereas Champion Kind, popularly known as Champ, is the sportscaster.

The news team is a perfect match that sees them earn the highest rating in the whole of San Diego. To celebrate their success, the dream team decides to throw a party. During the Anchorman wild party, Ron attempts to pick up Veronica Corningstone – a beautiful blonde lady but fails. Later on, the friends are informed that the station will add a female anchor to the news team only to realise that it’s Veronica, the blonde woman Ron Burgundy tried to pick up at the party.

Even though Ron and Veronica had a rocky start, their relationship grew and even ended in a sexual relationship. What makes things worse is that Ron announces it to everyone, yet they agreed to keep it a secret. At one point, Ron runs late, and Veronica is forced to fill in for him. The news segment records the highest rating, leading to the management’s decision of pairing the two for even a better rating. However, Burgundy does not like the idea, marking the beginning of the enmity between the two.

What follows is a series of tricks and pranks against each other until one day when Veronica’s attempt to sabotage Ron goes too far, leading to his dismissal from the news station. After a period of friendlessness and unemployment, Ron gets his job back by saving Veronica at the zoo. The movie even ends with Ron Burgundy and Veronica as CNN-Esque news anchors.

The sequel is based on Ron trying to redeem himself. However, it is not a continuation of the first instalment. Instead, the production team introduces a new set of events. But to retain the feel of the original, the production teams up the funny friends. This time, they use their methods to increase the show’s ratings amid the challenges set off by their tough and strict female boss.
