The Sony Playstation computer console continues to be one of the most frequently played platforms for computer gaming across the world. XCOM 2 (Firaxis Games)

This sequel is set 20 years after its predecessor. The plot continues to follow XCOM, a military organization that has lost a war against an alien civilization intent on invasion and is now existing as a resistance network against the aliens that now populate Earth.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (SEGA)
The original Valkyria Chronicles series of games can be traced back to the debut release of the original back in 2008 on the PS3. The game proved to be so popular that it was transferred over to the PS4 and has now undergone remastering. The story is set around a fictional world that is based on World War II. Set in the imaginary continent of Europa, players take on the role of the neutral Gallian Militia as the warring sides of the East European Imperial Alliance and Atlantic Federation attempt to harvest the Ragnite ore on Gallia.
Lara Croft is one of the most iconic computer game characters of all-time and the Tomb Raider series has played an influential role in making the Playstation consoles so marketable across the globe. In this turn-based puzzle game, players must help navigate Lara Croft around a board game whilst avoiding obstacles.
SteamWorld Heist (Image & Form)
As the third instalment in the SteamWorld series of games and the sequel to SteamWorld Dig, this game will undoubtedly already boast a committed fan base. Players must take on the role of Captain Piper Faraday as she looks to recruit misfit group of robots for an adventure in space that includes piracy and smuggling. Players must then simply act like a pirate for the duration of the game looting and shooting as they please.
Invisible Inc. Console Edition (Klei Entertainment)
It may well have garnered its reputation as one of the best turn-based strategy games on the mobile platform but Invisible Inc. has successfully transferred to the console domain. In this game, players are tasked with managing a spy agency that is under attack from a number of different corporations. Players must guide their spies on dangerous missions to acquire information that will help to relocate the agency’s computer network to a safe location and out of the reach of the sinister powers.
Prison Architect (Introversion Software)
On the surface, this might well feel like a poor man’s Rollercoaster Tycoon or Sim City but if you dig a little deeper you will find a game that could be seen as an adult version of Minecraft. The game is described as a prison construction and management simulator. It hardly sets the pulses racing. However, it has sold in excess of 1 million copies and generated over $10 million in pre-order sales. Must be the Prison Break factor and the fans of the television show lapping up copies. Anyway, all in all, this is a very addictive game and will have you thinking a lot more comprehensively than you will have anticipated as you try to effectively build and operate the most efficient prison ever constructed.

Developed by a trio of independent developers that were former employees of developer BioWare, this fantasy role-playing strategy game has taken the PC, mobile, and console platforms by storm. The game takes its inspiration from Viking legend and is set in a fantasy world where players must fight against the enemy of the Dredge – a race that wants to eliminate humans. The developers stated they wanted to create a strategy game for fans of Game of Thrones. It appears they have succeeded.
This War of Mine: The Little Ones (11 bit studios)
In 2014, a little-known developer released a game onto the PC gaming market that captured the imagination of players all over the world. It was a war survival game that drew tragic inspiration from the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War of the 1990s. The game proved to be so popular that it experienced a transfer to the console platform with this release. The decision by the developer to focus on the impact of war on civilians as opposed to the military side of conflict means this game offers something unique, harrowing, and very poignant.
