Blush – The DVDfever Review – Joe Mateo – Apple TV+ short animated film

Blush Blush is a new short animation on Apple TV+ about an astronaut, and whereas Matt Damon in The Martian was a botanist, this chap is a horticulturist, but both want to try and grow something fantastic when they’re stuck in a desolate planet, miles from home.

In an early comic moment, due to low gravity, he throws a rock away, and it comes back from behind to smack him on the head.

His brief attempt at growing a plant fails, until a female visitor to the planet crash lands onto there and grows a fantastic forest, leading to a film that’s very heartfelt and cute, and naturally, he falls in love. Are his feeling reciprocated?

Plus, we know life has its ups and downs, but can things end on a high?

Whatever happens, Blush is a beautiful 11-minute short film and definite a must-see, especially for all the family.

It certainly makes for a nice change from those endless, souless CGI films which Hollywood pump out without a second thought, all for a quick buck.

Let’s hope we see more from writer/director Joe Mateo soon!

Blush is on Apple TV+ from Friday Octobe 1st, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD.
