My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of BRADLEY WALSH’S MILLION POUND SHOT on CHANNEL 4!

Bradley Walsh's Million Pound Shot Bradley Walsh’s Million Pound Shot is classed as a pilot for a new game show, where contestants can win the amount in the title – okay, that’s been done before – but this time round, contestants play with their own money.

IMPORTANT: I will go into detail about this show, so there will be spoilers. DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING IN ADVANCE OF WATCHING!

When they make a bet, they have to physically put their debit card into a chip-and-PIN machine to secure the funds. However, if you win, the amount can increase exponentially, while Bradley Walsh introduces ‘bet balls’ and states the show will increase your bet ball multiplier from what the contestant initially won, with a simple question asking “Which U.S. President was born in Hawaii?”, which most people should know is Barack Obama.

However, I smelled a bit of a rat, when the show claims it has a live studio audience, but clearly isn’t live. The edits are too tight for that, and like with The Chase, the show quickly dubs start/stop laughter over the crowd. Live audience, my best hat!

Plus, the subtitles also appear when they’re spoken by everyone onscreen, so it’s clearly NOT live… rather like when Sunday Brunch closes up shop over Xmas and New Year, so pre-records 3 shows, whilst still pretending to be live, and you can actually see it getting dark outside, even though it’s supposed to be morning(!)

Bradley Walsh’s Million Pound Shot also felt like the rules are made up on the spot, like adding in a bonus ball to increase a player’s odds, ultimately allowing contestant Reece to chase his losses, which Ofcom would not allow.

And then it went a bit ‘Inside No.9‘, when someone in audience claims “it’s all wrong“, Reece’s wife runs out, a floor manager pipes up, and the show gets pulled off air to go to a perfectly-timed ad break.

But there is a point to this, as it turns into a documentary about how gambling companies make you feel like you’re winning when you’ve actually bet more than you won, along with showing a few ‘tricks of the trade’ that they push on customers, and confirms how ‘Reece’ is based on a real-life case of a man who lost ALL his shirts!

So, it’s certainly worth a watch, even if you know this ‘twist’, but while it’s classed as an experiment, that didnt last very long. It’s basically a public information film against gambling, even though that is a good thing.

And this is ‘Reece’:

Bradley Walsh’s Million Pound Shot is avalable to watch on All 4.

It’s unlikely to be released on Blu-ray or DVD, but loads of other things are available on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
