Code Of Silence: Like a bus, you wait for a Rose Alying-Ellis drama, and then three come along at once, with Reunion, the Doctor Who episode, and now this.
By day, Alison Woods works in a cop shop canteen, but also by day, she’s about to have a new job, and in a cost-of-living crisis, every little helps.
DS Ashleigh Francis (Charlotte Ritchie – Wonka) has asked to see her, although her note also has her mobile number beginning 07700, which is a fake one used for TV, so she’ll never get her on that number 😉
Code of Silence brings us a positive experience for deaf people, in that she proves an asset to the cops, since we see how she picks up lip-reading, even though at work, she just uses it to pick up on gossip from across the road.
However, for the cops, on the first day, she’s asked to sit in front of a monitor, watch some potential baddies talking and pick up on what they’re saying, as they’re expected to be planning a robbery.
That said, it’s obvious that Liam Bayne (Kieron Moore) and Braden Moore (Joe Absolom) aren’t exactly nice people, because they have that ‘TV bad guy’ look, wincing as if they’ve just copped a whiff of someone’s farts from last night’s takeway.
As this is a preview, without giving spoilers, naturally, she’s told not to discuss with anyone what she saw, but then starts looking one of them up online afterwards!
As an aside, she shouldn’t have to apologise for being a bit late for her canteen shift, given that they’ll know she IS working in the same building. Plus, instead of doing dishwashing by hand, they’d have an industrial washing machine that does a ton of plates etc at the same time. I’ve been there. Not in a cop shop, but a restaurant. Horrible job.
I’ll update this with more once it’s been broadcast.
Code of Silence begins tomorrow night on ITV at 9pm, and once broadcast, will be available to stream on ITVX.
It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
