Deadline – The DVDfever Review – Channel 5 drama – James D’Arcy

Deadline
Deadline is another new four-part nightly drama for Channel 5.

Journalist James Alden (James D’Arcy) is long past his best, but he has the exclusive chance to interview gold-digger and murder suspect Natalie Varga (Charlie Murphy), whose rich Hungarian husband was on the receiving end of whoever did the deed, and stopped him from breathing. Natalie knows he’s no longer held in high regard, but still offers to give him the interview in return for him finding out who killed her other half… so it can’t be her, right?

Well, in TV and movie land, any outcome is possible these days, so it’s not even worth speculating. May as well just sit and let it happen.

Along the way in the opener, James also interviews Vera (Nina Senicar), the artist who was commissioned by Natalie to make a particular painting for her.

Of course, quite whether or not a murder suspect would be allowed to talk to the press… is something I’d severely doubt. But either way, this is a very slow first episode, and I’m not sold on this so far, but I’ll see how it goes. I’ll add any further comments after each subsequent episode has aired.

First, posting this next bit after the opener has ended, here’s some amusing tweets…
