Deadpool is yet another superhero movie, but while I’m kinda getting tired of these coming out every month or two, there was a self-depreciative element in this teaser which had me sold from the off, showing that this isn’t just going to be another 12A-certificate pile of crap like Ant-Man.
Yes, it has the downside that Ryan Reynolds plays the titular character, but it also stars Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano (Haywire), TJ Miller (Transformers: Age Of Extinction) and Ed Skrein (The Transporter Refueled).
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool has been brought forward a week to February 5th 2016, so that still isn’t good that a non-BAFTA/Oscar contender is getting shoved into the January/February release schedule, but hey ho.
