Dexter Resurrection Season 2 – The DVDfever Review – Paramount+ – Michael C Hall

Dexter Resurrection Season 2 Dexter Resurrection Season 2 is here – just over a year after the first, and while I didn’t see the trailer prior to watching the first two episodes, which were available for review, it did thus show me what felt like an amusing cameo in the frame for being The New York Ripper.

Although the trailer does confirm the name, as I didn’t know it beforehand, I’ll leave that one for you to discover.

However, it’s looking like we’re back to one main opponent for Dexter (Michael C Hall) for this season, with the brilliant Dan Stevens (Cuckoo) joining the cast as his new nemesis, the Five Boroughs Killer?

Thus, killing 5 people in each of one of five boroughs of the city before moving on. However, while he only just starts off, and people are already referring to the man as a ‘serial killer’, it’s much to Dexter’s annoyance, because “it takes three kills to actually be classed as serial killer(!)”

His schtick is to simply phone the police and give them an indication of what will happen and when. Hence, he tells them, “I’m going to kill someone at a baseball game tomorrow”.

There’s not too much I can say without saying too much, so it’s safe to say – since the trailer confirms it – that Uma Thurman‘s (The Old Guard 2) back in Dexter’s life as Charley, but since he can never trust anyone, can he trust her if she’s claiming to be on his side, this time?

Additionally, Rapunzel has resurfaced… y’know, the fat guy who didn’t want to stick around for Hamilton, last time. How he managed to catch female joggers last season, when he can barely walk forwards and not be out of breath, I don’t know.

There’s obviously more I could say, but won’t while the episodes haven’t yet aired, except to say that after so many seasons, new Dexter really shouldn’t be working by this point, but it still does.

As an aside, this time round, the series brings back the old-style credits – albeit newly-recorded, and framed for 2.39:1. Plus, the end credits retain the same theme they used to do, rather than the previous season trying to be all flashy for the sake of it. Keep it simple!

Oh, and why does Dexter still lock his door by putting it in a Yale lock? It locks automatically. You then use the lock to UNLOCK IT! Still, that’s a moot point.

Now, after Dexter, if only they’d resurrect Dexter: Original Sin!

Thanks to our friends at Paramount+ for the screener prior to release.

Dexter Resurrection Season 2 is not available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but is on Paramount+ from tomorrow. There is just one episode initially, this time, with further episodes added weekly.
