Yes, DVDfever.co.uk, this very website, was launched on February 25th 2000, although before that I was writing reviews as far back as 1994 when I was recovering from my aortic valve replacement operation, and until I had my very own webspace, I would post them online with the kind assistance of Sonicstate.com before, later, moving them across to my own site.
When I started in 1994, Blu-rays, and even DVDs, were a mere twinkle in a technologist’s eye, and my reviews consisted mainly of cinema films and videos (remember them?) before laserdiscs in the mid-90s, and then DVDs in the late 90s.
However, take a trip a further 11 years down the line and while the entire site was written with pages in .shtml, I made the jump to a WordPress-based site and there are a great number of pages which still need bringing across from the old version of the site to the newer one, as well as applying all the necessary SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to the site.
I will get there, however, but as always, my love of movies and videogames continues unabated… and I still think that the 1992 movie Freejack, starring Emilio Estevez, Anthony Hopkins and Mick Jagger, is still one of the most underappreciated films of all time! Hence, probably, why it hasn’t yet been given a Blu-ray released in either the UK or US, or anywhere else for that matter!
Thanks to everyone’s support over the years, and here’s to another 15 years of DVDfever.co.uk!
