Empire Of Death – Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 8 – The DVDfever Review

Empire Of Death Empire Of Death

Empire Of Death is the eighth and finale episode of (ahem) Season 1.

Empire Of Death? Empire Of Thanos, morelike!

Expect spoilers in this piece.

Okay, first thing: How would anyone be able to fire within their own workplace? And why would Morris have laser guns on his Segway?

And when someone “brings Sutekh’s dust of death” (come on, that’s just Thanos’ finger snap!), why not just get the hell out of the room like Mel and Doccy did? Still, at least it got rid of a room full of irritants.

And what a surprise that Angie Watts turns out to be a baddie! Oh, and don’t worry, Ruby, she wasn’t your real Mum!

Still, Ruby’s rocking her mini-skirt and boots combo, before changing into her army fatigues. Not sure which was best! 😀

Meanwhile, Doccy’s response to Sutekh? “I damn you”. Is that it?! Utter bollocks!

That bit where he’s bleating about “the Earth dying”? Sounds like doom-monger Chris Packham!

And finally, someone’s decorated the TARDIS. Why has it been so bare the whole time since the new guy took over? Were they hoping he wouldn’t stay long? Oh, hang on, it’s a “remembered TARDIS”, with bits and pieces of other ones from time gone by. The real one still looks like he hasn’t bothered to unpack.

Oh, and then he blames himself for everyone snuffing it, whacks out the tear-stick and cries like a little girl.

Then he’s walking through the desert and picking up a spoon? WTF is going on?!

Oh, and then…

And then Doccy was kissing Ruby on the head? Is he just pretending to be gay, after having a quick grope?

And why give Sutekh a big speech on morality, when he’s going to burn into nothing, 20 seconds later?! The way they got rid of that thing was ridiculous. Why does it only burn up after the rope is cut? And how is the door sharp enough to do that? Seems like a health and safety issue.

And Ruby’s Mum is the crap drug dealer from The Responder?

And since Ruby’s only just found her Mum, why would she quickly head off again in the TARDIS?!

And I’m so glad this is all over.

However, I did think that maybe…

Still, finally, we got the James Bond-style threat of “Doctor Who Will Return“. Please don’t.
