My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of FAKE on ITV!

Fake Fake is another import from Down Under, where women glow and men plunder…

As magazine writer Birdie Bell (Asher KeddieThe Lost Flowers Of Alice Hart) heads to her first date in ages, the obvious question – to me, at least – was, why’s she walking through a puddle, near the start? She could easily walk around it.

Anyhoo, set in New South Wales, Joe Burt (David WenhamElvis) sets himself out as a simple farmer, whilst being a former high-flyer in property. Quite a bit different from her, as she’s volunteering in a food kitchen, due to writing a feature about them.

However, things don’t exactly go to plan and since he’s still pushy, if she doesn’t want to get to know him, why didn’t she just block? Easy. But no, she gets drawn in by his nonsense. It’s clearly a bit of a giveaway that he has “soft hands”, despite toiling on the farm all day.

It also doesn’t help that her mum is pushing her back towards him, since she “needs to be realistic about what’s out there“, at her age. Nah, why settle for someone she doesn’t care about?

Fake is like a tedious Mills & Boon story… or rather, a Mills & Boon story. It’s also beyond monumentally tedious, and I don’t really care how it ends up, or how quickly she twigs along the way, if at all.

And who leaves unfinished drinks in bar? You’d down the last drops before heading off! Just unrealistic.

Fake begins tonight on ITV at 10.05pm, and is already available to stream on ITVX.

It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
