John Lewis Christmas Advert 2021: The new John Lewis Xmas advert is titled “Unexpected Guest” and features a young boy who’s greeted by an alien in the forest – who looks rather like Scarlett Johansson in 2013’s Under The Skin – since her spaceship has crash-landed.
For the plot, the lad steals some mince pies from a family party to give to his… unexpected guest. He then helps her fix her spaceship… sort-of, and later gives her a present, before she gives him a kiss and heads off back into space.
Somehow, he gets working lights on a tree in a forest, despite not having a power source, but… mere details.
The song within is Together In Electric Dreams, originally by The Human League’s Philip Oakey along with Giorgio Moroder, and was the theme for the brilliant 1984 movie, Electric Dreams. This cover version is by Lola Young.
Oh, and this Xmas advert has been released two weeks early because Disney put theirs out yesterday.
