John Lewis Christmas Advert 2024: Their adverts get worse and worse!

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2024 John Lewis Christmas Advert 2024: Apart from the fact that The Verve‘s Richard Ashcroft has sold his soul to the devil – allowing the use of the song Sonnet, in this advert, while some are moaning about there being no men in this advert, I was more struck by the fact that John Lewis’ adverts have got worse and worse over time.

In this one, men are not required, clearly. As Doctor Who showed, you can take diversity to the Nth degree, and you just end up alienating your audience, causing everyone to switch off. I guess John Lewis want no-one to buy stuff from them. They’re a bloody rip-off, anyway.

There was a recent one which had a bad cover version of Paul Simon’s I Know What I know, with a woman constantly muttering, “What do I know?” before expanding on that in the dullest way possible. More to the point, there wasn’t a single moment in it when John Lewis tell us what they actually sell!!

Surely that’s the point of an advert?!
