UK Top 100 Music chart summary & my views w/e January 11th 2014

mu110114Going straight in at No.1 in the UK Top 100 Music Chart for w/e January 11th 2014 is Pitbull Feat. Ke$ha with Timber, a track which is one of the most predictable dance tracks I’ve ever heard. The ‘country’ aspect reminds me of the appalling “Cotton-Eyed Joe”, too. Oh dear.

As such, Pharrell drops to No.2 with Happy and it’s a much more deserving top-slot track than most in recent weeks.

  • 18 Matrix & Futurebound Feat. Max Marshall – Control
  • 34 (41 RE) Wilkinson – Afterglow
  • 35 (45 RE) Chase & Status Feat. Jacob Banks – Alive
  • 39 (49 RE) Daft Punk Feat. Pharrell Williams – Get Lucky
Lower entries outside the Top 40 include:

  • 94 (RE) Jake Bugg – Lightning Bolt
In the album charts, Ellie Goulding climbs from No.6 to No.1 with Halcyon Days, knocking Robbie Williams down to No.4 with Swings Both Ways. The new entries come from:
  • Er… none. I told you the charts were quiet at the moment.
