Number One Fan brings us back to the feel of James Caan and Kathy Bates in Misery, but hopefully, they’ll be no hobbllng in this one.
A situation at the supermarket leads to Donna (Sally Lindsay – Love Rat) playing the Good Samaritan for daytime TV host Lucy Logan (Jill Halfpenny – Girl Taken), which leads to the latter inviting her into the studio for a tour, but overtime she does seem to be around more often than you’d expect a regular fan to be.
Someone’s sending Lucy some rather unflavoursome chocolates, but without giving any spoilers, would we really expect this from someone who’s been in St Winifred’s School Choir? Yes, Ms Lindsay really does have that honour!
As a few asides, I love how Lucy’s show is seen being watched on an old 4:3 TV, as if it’s filmed that way; and for Jill’s car, the registration plate is clearly false. The font isn’t correct, and it has a black outline and hard rectangular shape that doesn’t sit with a regular plate. But then for TV filming, it’s for off-road content.
And for the gym where Lucy’s husband, Shawn (Daniel Adegboyega – The Tower Series 3), works, shouldn’t their towels come in hands-free bags? That’s what Tim Roth moaned about in 2015’s Chronic, after all.
Seriously, though, this is a more beefy opener than I was expecting, and I’ll add more after the episode has aired, as this is just a preview.
Thanks to our friends and Channel 5 for the screener prior to broadcast.
