Splash was a romantic comedy like no other when I was 12 years old.
After all, it was impossible to get any girls at school to be interested in me, yet for Allen Bauer (Tom Hanks), mermaid Madison (Daryl Hannah – Kill Bill Vol.2) literally fell into his arms as he almost drowned as a young boy, she saved him and then he was searching for her ever since… until they met again.
What followed as a silly, but engaging mismatch comedy as Allen had a relationship with a naked female who just happened to be half-fish. Directed by Ron Howard, and also starring Eugene Levy and the late, great John Candy.
In one scene, Madison kisses Allen on the beach, then turns and runs into the sea – and the act of adding water will get rid of her legs and turn them back into a big fin. However, Disney have already got rid of something else, because what was definitely worth watching at the time, was the sight of Ms Hannah’s slim, naked backside. But now look at it…
What the F have Disney Plus done?! They’ve added some ridiculous CGI ‘hair’ which extends down and covers up her bum!
This is not the only time we’ve had censorship in movies, because all too often, you’re allowed to see MALE nipples, but not FEMALE nipples. Why not? They’re still nipples and everybody has them!
As such, when I reviewed Fifty Shades Freed, I covered up the male lead’s front bumps because if it’s not acceptable to publish those of Dakota Johnson, then I don’t want to promote his, either. You can see that image below. In the meantime, check out the Splash footage (a la Disney Plus) which was captured, and even when I saw a still shot of this, I had to search for it online because it is NOT an April Fool!
