My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of THE FORTUNE on CHANNEL 5!

The Fortune The Fortune opens with someone a gunshot on a boat… and no sight of Ted Moult.

For reasons unexplained, Martin’s (Denis LawsonInside No.9) received a photo of Amanda (Eleanor TomlinsonThe Forsytes), who’s shown to be way too happy to be working in a restaurant, and since there’s always deaths in these dramas, when I worked on a Little Chef, so many customers deserved to end up stuck in the freezer, never to be seen again!

In this case, though, it’s Martin who’s brown bread, and because reasons, Amanda’s the sole beneficiary of his estate with a big house and £2m.

However, like a lot of Channel 5’s drama openers, all this does it just introduce the characters – such as Amanda’s mum (Paula WilcoxTrying) being in a care home with dementia, Martin’s family being a grumpy bum, because they’ve missed out on the moolah, some heavy breathing phone calls. Plus, an obvious dodgy character is obvious…

Oh, and that Jurassic Park-like videogame Amanda’s kid is playing, is clearly fake, too. But Christ, what a wet blanket Amanda is!

Amongst all the laughably silly nonsense on view, every time there’s a close-up of someone’s face, they use a different camera, so it’s elongated vertically. That’s odd.

There are four episodes in total, but I’ll catch them all as they’re aired, as it’s fun to see what others are tweeting.

UPDATE EPISODE 2:

Spoiler Inside SelectShow

Thanks to our friends and Channel 5 for the screener prior to broadcast.

The Fortune continues tomorrow night on Channel 5 at 9pm, then concludes next Tues and Weds. Yes, it’s not four episodes in a row, which would’ve been far better 🙁

It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.

If you miss it when broadcast, you can watch the each episode after broadcast on My5.
