The Game Series 2 is not something I thought I’d be typing.
If I wanted any Channel 5 four-part drama with Jason Watkins to continue, it would’ve been 2024’s Coma. His character, Simon, was always at odds with Paul (Jonas Armstrong), but by the end, they found a way to rub along together.
One year later, Huw (Watkins) and Alice (Sunetra Sarker, still stealing a living) have moved into a new house, miles away, while Patrick’s (Robson Green – Age Before Beauty) got his new bachelor pad… in the clink.
Before long, Huw’s got a new penpal, in the form of his former nemesis, making him wonder how he found his address, regardless of the fact you’re not allowed to send dodgy letters to your victim, while in jail, so how is he getting them past those that do the checks on this?
Elsewhere, one woman thinks her husband is victim of the Ripton Stalker, and rather than leave well alone, the cops want Huw to get involved because… Patrick will only talk to him. So, it’s Manhunter?
Either way, I’d rather Channel 5 would schedule these things across four nights straight, rather than two nights each over two weeks – not even putting them online in the meantime. That’s just annoying.
Note: This is just a spoiler-free preview, and I’ll add a couple of things after it’s been broadcast.
Thanks to our friends at Channel 5 for the screener prior to release.
The Game begins tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm, continues tomorrow, and then Tues & Weds next week.
It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
If you miss it, you can watch the each episode on My5.
