The Hairdresser Mysteries brings us back into the realms of cosy crime, this time with Sally Phillips (Night And Day) in the lead as coiffeur Lily Petal, who moves away from the big city, heading to a dead town, Blossom Vale.
The place has a charity shop which sells endless, cheap tat, which someone has managed to steal from, even though it’s fully-manned.
However, almost 20 mins in, there’s been a muh-duh! The person in question had been acting weird and irritating a lot of people. And since Lily hasn’t got any customers – and thus can spend all day going round everyone else’s shops, rather than trying to get a viable business working – set sets off to crack the crime.
The Hairdresser Mysteries is beyond inconsequential – and during the 45-minute running time, you can feel your brain cells dying off one by one.
Plus, no-one’s yet solved the mystery of why Sunetra Sarker keeps getting work, when she only plays Sunetra Sarker?!
The Hairdresser Mysteries begins today on BBC1 at 2pm, and will then be on BBC iPlayer.
It’s available to pre-order on Blu-ray and DVD, ahead of its release on August 24th.
