Evil Dead Burn opens with a man finding the way to kill the evil that causes all the problems in this film series (other than the crap scripts and direction), and hides the proof behind a wall…
Elsewhere, as two friends go fishing, one gets a bite, the other nipping off for a minute, leaving the other to get slaughtered by fishing twine, and… he’s fallen in the water! It’s all caused by ‘Evil Dead girl’ Jessica (Greta van den Brink).
A separate situation of an argument between a couple, Will (George Pullar – North Shore) and Alice (Souheila Yacoub – Dune Part Two) leads to him speeding off, going splat through Jessica, who’s just appeared in front of him, and he soon ends up a hunka hunka burning love…
Because reasons, the Deadite virus is passed on at the funeral, causing Will’s Dad, Edgar (Erroll Shand – All Her Fault) to become possessed, which leads to some gruesome times on a car trip.
And what happens to Edgar is the main problem, because Evil Dead Burn feels like it has NOTHING to do with the Evil Dead, and is just a terrible zombie movie.
Since the family house has had a stairlift installed for granny Polly (Maude Davey), there’s a very funny moment, where one possessed character is crawling along the floor to inflict more pain on protagonist/final girl Alice, she fights back by picking up a large shard of glass, jamming it in the assailant’s eye and just managing to grab the seatbelt strap from the stairlift and tie it round their leg… causing the baddie to VERY slowly be taken away from her. It really is like something you’d expect from Shaun Of The Dead.
However, very sadly, the humour is SO few and far between in this. The rest of it is endless, tedious gore, with zombies that just won’t die, even when shooting themselves in the head, leaving this pointless sequel to be nothign but a load of bollocks, random, disconnected scenes.
