The Light Between Oceans looks like a movie that’s aiming for the 2017 Oscar nominations as Michael Fassbender (Frank, X-Men: Days Of Future Past) and Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) are a lighthouse keeper and his wife, living off the coast of Western Australia raise a baby they rescue from an adrift rowboat.
Also starring Rachel Weisz (The Lobster), Caren Pistorius and Benedict Hardie, the film is written and directed by Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines) and based on the novel by ML Stedman.
You have a long wait before you’ll see The Light Between Oceans, however, since it’s not due out in the UK until January 6th 2017, while the US get it much earlier, on September 2nd this year. I won’t be waiting, as it looks dull as dishwater.
