The Rumour… but how do rumours get started…
They’re started by the jealous people and they get mad about somethin’ they had, and somebody else is holdin’…
This is a strange one, as the problem could all have been avoided, as Joanna (Rachel Shenton (The Strangers Chapter 1, For Her Sins) takes her daughter to her new school for the first time, in a new town to where they’ve just moved, asking her if she’s excited (she’s not), but I remember being at school, and wishing I could pause the day, go home and play H.E.R.O. on my Atari 2600 (or Atari VCS as we called it, back in the day), and then resume the school day after a game. Sadly, that wasn’t, and has never been possible.
Like Bananarama, Joanna hears a rumour about a potential child killer on the loose, even though no other parents have a heard even a whisper about this, but it’s on to Instagram once they do! So, perhaps she should’ve kept it to herself, given that she’s only heard a… get this… rumour!
What’s really daft is that Joanna clearly regrets saying anything so early on, but feels compelled to keep banging on about it as the programme continues. Quit while you’re behind!
Plus, after the way the opener ends, it’s crazy to think that if she’d just kept her trap shut, few of the problems would have happened. Still, isn’t that part of the fun with these things?
The Rumour continues tomorrow on Channel 5 at 9pm, and concludes on Weds and Thursday next week, totalling four episodes.
It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
If you miss it, you can watch the each episode after broadcast on My5.
