To Write Love on Her Arms is also being called Day One, so that final title may change, but it tells the tale of 19-year-old Renee (Kat Dennings), who has always loved fairy tales: the idea of a princess, a hero and a happily ever after. But Renee’s life is that of a darker tale: she’s a young woman battling addiction, depression and self-injury. In a creative blend of artistic fantasy balanced with harsh reality, the movie follows Renee on her courageous journey towards recovery, ultimately leading to the founding of charity group To Write Love on Her Arms.
The film also stars Chad Michael Murray, Rupert Friend, Mark Saul and Juliana Harkavy, and doesn’t yet have a UK or US release date but I won’t be holding my breath as it didn’t grab me in any way.
