Too Good To Be True – The DVDfever Review – Channel 5 drama – Kara Tointon

Too Good To Be True Too Good To Be True sees Rachel (Kara Tointon) and son Liam (Charlie Hodson-Prior) running away unknown from something in the middle of the night, leading to her only safe haven being working her hotel cleaning job with her the lad in tow.

She’s also in debt with bills aplenty, and needs more hours in her job from boss, John Thomson (John Thomson as John Thomson), and you get the idea that when her kid wants a burger, she doesn’t order anything because she can’t afford it, not that she “had a big lunch at work”.

Meanwhile, Simone, aka ‘bossy chain-necklace lady with bad hairstyle’ spots Rachel outside, and – for reasons unexplained – wants to employ her, being surprisingly demanding about it, and all for a particular man, Elliot (Allen LeechBohemian Rhapsody), to clean his huge mansion fully of mysterious CCTV cameras, and clean itdaily, even when it’s already spick & span!

I’m posting this after the episode has broadcast, but he seems to be taking too much of an interest in her for no apparent reason, I also don’t trust the Simone, purely down to that awful necklace, and so far, Too Good To Be True isn’t doing an awful lot – albeit only slightly teasing a way forward in the plot. Either way, a second episode will have to go some in order to keep me on side.

The ‘next time’ teaser also looks incredibly predictable, too, as if all the previous Channel 5 dramas were fed into ChatGPT, and Too Good To Be True was the end result.

Further episode reviews follow below, and all were seen at the time of broadcast.

Thanks to our friends at Channel 5 for the screener for episode 1 prior to broadcast.

If you miss it, you can watch the each episode on My5, as the entire series is online now. I wish they’d done that with Finders Keepers
